Musician (1774 – 1851)

The building that currently houses the Gaspare Spontini archive, library and museum is where the great musician lived with Celeste Erard and where he died. These elements make the house Spontini a true heirloom. The house is not a neutral place, not an old building inside which you organize a museum, not a home without a history, without a soul, that has been adapted to exhibit Spontinian documents, but the very building that holds the last breath of Spontini, his steps, notes, meetings.

Edgardo Mannucci Museum

Opened in May 2004, the Museum is housed in the former Franciscan convent of Arcevia, near the main square, G. Garibaldi. Considered the heart of the town’s cultural life, it is spread over three floors. 

In the basement, there is a conference room along with exhibition spaces made out of the old cellars of the monastery. On the ground floor there is the State Archaeological Museum, which has a significant selection from the most interesting local archaeological sites. Alongside, the other two rooms have been equipped for educational activities for school groups visiting the museum.

Beltrami Ethno-Anthropological Museum

Magistrate, explorer and scientist (1779 – 1855)

The imposing Beltrami-Luchetti Palace was built in the historic center of Filottrano, on the belt of the castle walls, by the Spada Lavinj family in the seventeenth century, and was expanded in the late eighteenth century. Here Giacomo Costantino Beltrami grew up and died, discoverer of the sources of the Mississippi and a great scholar of the American Indian peoples.
